MEET A MUMMA ON A MISSION: Michelle Derrig is a Sydney based, stay-at-home Mum to 4 children, whose self-published picture book about BODY SAFETY & CONSENT reached #8 on Amazon USA's Best Seller List and #1 on Amazon's Movers & Shakers List earlier this year (that is out of 33 million titles).

Without a background in child protection or writing, Michelle created Only For Me back in 2014, after hearing about several cases in her immediate community, where primary school aged children had been sexually abused by children their own age. 

As she began to research the topic she was horrified to learn that 1 in 5 Aussie children are likely to experience sexual harm before their 18th birthday and that somewhere between 30 to 60% of cases will be perpetrated by other children or young people.  

This reality was further solidified for Michelle 18 months after releasing Only For Me, when own 7 year old son turned to her and disclosed that "the boy at swimming lessons does what Only For Me says you shouldn't do!"

Despite being rejected by Australian publishers, Michelle decided to self-publish her picture book Only For Me and gained full endorsement from one of Australia's leading child protection organisations Act For Kids.
 
THE RESULT - Only For Me is a triple best seller here in Australia  and has sold over 50000 copies across the globe, with Spanish and German translations soon to be released.  In 2021 her simple Tiktok reading of Only For Me amassed more than 800K views and a similar reading this year by a US parenting influencer @youcancallmekait has received over 1.7 MILLION views.
 
Michelle is also a passionate child protection advocate and has spent the last 7 years raising awareness about the important responsibility parents have to educate and teach their children about body safety and consent from at least 3 years of age. She has also raised more than $20000 for child protection organisations and has donated more than $30,000 worth of books to families, schools and organisations.
